4.3 — INTERLININGS

Fusible interlinings for footwear components, apparel, and leather goods.

An interlining is a structural layer bonded to the inside of a shell fabric or component to provide stiffness, shape retention, or dimensional stability. Without it, the outer material — leather, synthetic upper fabric, woven shell — deforms under use, loses shape over time, or fails to hold the construction geometry the designer intended.

Shakti Group produces interlinings using our powder-coat lamination process. Thermoplastic resin powder is scatter-applied to a woven or non-woven base cloth and thermally fixed. The result is a fabric with a dormant adhesive coating that activates under the heat and pressure of a garment or footwear press, fusing permanently to the shell material during assembly.

In footwear, interlinings are the defining structural component of the counter and toe puff — the elements that maintain shape at heel and toe across the life of the shoe. Resin activation temperature, add-on weight, and base fabric stiffness are all specifiable to match press parameters.
